Unti Vineyards is one of the
most renowned Rhone centric estates in Dry Creek Valley. Owned
by George, Linda and Mick Unti, their two vineyard sites have
consistently produced wines of style and personality. Situated
on the eastern side of Dry Creek, Unti lies along one of the
largest wildlife corridors in the Valley. Farming organically
since its inception in 2005 and experimenting with biodynamic
techniques, Vineyard Manager Levi Glenn along with George Unti
demonstrate the care and craft of modern conscientious farming.

WINERY BLOCK STATS
Total Acres: 2
Acres dedicated to VERGE Wine Cellars: .58
Clone: Durrel
Rootstock: 101-14
Spacing: 4x6 feet
Vines per Acre: 1,815
Tons per Acre: 2.7
From the Front Lines – Levi Glenn,
Vineyard Manager
“This block is one of the more rocky sites that we have
under vine. Due to the lack of clay in the soil, it’s
always the first to dry out in the spring. It’s self-limiting
which is great for Syrah. As one of our more densely planted
sites, almost three times as many vines per acre as is traditional,
we get just three to four pounds of fruit per vine.”

TRACTOR SHED BLOCK STATS
Total Acres: 1.6
Acres dedicated to VERGE Wine Cellars: .81
Clone: Durrel
Rootstock: 3309
Spacing: 4x6 feet
Vines per Acre: 1,815
Tons per Acre: 3.9
From the Front Lines – Levi Glenn,
Vineyard Manager
“In contrast to the Winery Block, Tractor Shed is a bit more vigorous.
There’s a little more clay in the soil and so the block retains a little
more water and thus the canopy can be more assertive. We thin more here and
the vines give us around five to six pounds per vine. We’re really happy
with the way this block has responded to our biodynamic preparations and the
soil here is some of the most vital on the ranch.”
